Pricing for greeting card usage rights
I've had an inquiry from someone who is asking to use one of my images for a greeting card. She wants to do a first run of 1,000. She claims to have her own company and does not work for one of the big greeting card companies. Can anyone give me some direction on what is usual for compensation/usage rights? Aperture 2 Released
Apple has released Aperture 2.0 and I just got done taking it for a spin. Here are some thoughts:
- Interface has changed for the better. A bit less cluttered and the filmstrip option for thumbnails is nice. Someone at Apple has been using Lightroom I guess. Imagine that - a better interface through user testing. Who would have thought it. But that's a whole other post... [More]

for a change I "worked" on this wildlife shot a bit, doing some careful vignetting and other dodging/burning to get the effect.

Armored Guardian
Here's to family (it's that time of year). And B&W. PS3 has the B&W conversion tool, but I did this with CS2 and channel mixer. Just played with the red/blue/green until I got something I liked. Winter Ice
These were taken yesterday after a bit of fog and ice. Used Lightroom; used the black and white conversion; then manipulated the histogram to stretch dynamic range.
For those interested I have been really working hard to decide between Aperture and Lightroom and I think Lightroom is going to win. More on that later.

I used the new Black and White adjustment layer in CS3. I run through the presets. If I find one that is close, I then use the sliders to fine tune. I'm also trying to learn the BW option in the Raw Converter.
