Converting to B&W
G'day Everyone
I was wondering if there is a definative answer to the question of converting colour Digital files to B&W?
I have seen so many ways to do it that I am totaly confused and wishing I had a film camera and a dark room here.
Can anyone please help me with a way to convert to B&W and give me a nice image? I have a big shoot next week with most of the CEO and COO's so the pressure is REALLY on and I want to give them back colour and B&W images as I am throwing a bit of a spin on this years anual report.
As always thanks for your help and support. (What would I do without this site!)
Cheers Chippy
Chippy,
I am with you on the overwhelming choices. I have heard raves about Lightroom's simple conversion and how well it does the job. May be worth a look. Last I checked they were offering a free trial. If you are on a Mac then you can also try Aperture. These are simple methods relative to PS and channels and layers and alpha and you name the method.
Because of this type of paradox of choice I am actually looking at deAdobefying my workflow. I hope to be able to create a mac only workflow with less expensive and easier to use tools. Don't get me wrong, PS is great at what it does, but I feel they missed the boat with Lightroom by not including local adjustment capability. If Adobe combines Lightroom with Elements-like functionality I may come back.
