digital camera info.

I am wanting to buy a digital camera simply for family photos. One of the following 6 are what I am considering and would appreciate input on which one is best.

Canon® PowerShot A540 Digital Camera
6.0 megapixels, 4x optical zoom, 2.5-in. LCD monitor.

Panasonic® Lumix® DMC-LZ3 Digital Camera
5.0 megapixels, 6x optical zoom, built-in image stabilizer.

Fujifilm® Finepix A600 Digital Camera
5.0 megapixels, 6x optical zoom, built-in image stabilizer.

Olympus® FE-140 Digital Camera
6.0 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, PictBridge™ enabled.

Fujifilm® FinePix A500 Digital Camera
5.1 Megapixel camera gives you exceptional image quality

Fuji® FinePix® 6.0 MegaPixel Digital Camera
2.5-in LCD screen. The 115,000 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of 60fps allows you to see clear, smooth images in high-resolution color.
• Number of Effective Pixels: 6.0 Million Pixels
• Internal Memory - Total/Useable: 16MB

Thank you!

Tough Choice

Karen,
Sorry, I don't have any pointed recommendations. It's a tough call because there are so many factors involved:

-Form Factor (size, shape, etc).
-What is your current workflow and how a new camera may change it.
-Optical zoom or megapixels? That's usually the trade when staying at same price.
-Do you have any current equipment that has accessories that will work with the new one (batteries, lens adapters, etc)
-Etc, Etc.

My recommendation is to go to a large electronics store that will have them on display so you can handle them all. Use that trip to narrow to three and then google those for reviews. In the end I would not worry too much as this is an ultra-competitive business segment and any company releasing junk will not last long.
R,
C
