Full-Time Help Wanted: Studio/Digital Production

Job Description: Studio/Digital Production Position

To assist in the digital realm of running a photography studio: from assisting with digital capture on set, prepping files for digital delivery, scanning medium format film, archiving, to retouching in the digital darkroom. Photography/digital imaging or production background required. Applicants must also be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Team players needed. The work includes assisting on major photo shoots as well as pre- and post-production for shoots and general office duties. This position provides an opportunity to work in close collaboration with the photographers in a major studio and we are seeking production people with a commitment to learning and growing with us.

Computer Skills: MAC OS, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, MS Word, iView Media Pro

Photography Skills: Familiarity with Hasselblad, Mamiya, and Canon; Leaf Valeo 22; ProFoto Strobes and accessories; HMI’s; If you do not have this knowledge, we will train you.

Printing: Traditional Black and White Darkroom; Epson 4800 wide format printer; FTP to service bureau such as White House Custom Color or Thompson Photo

Production: Oversee film/digital capture once it leaves the photographer’s hands/camera. Responsible for prepping files for delivery to clients, submissions to contests, submissions to printers, prepping and printing images for portfolios and clients, organizing selects, printing contact sheets, etc.

Office Duties: answering phones; gallery/charity submissions; portfolio prints; portfolio building; general upkeep of the studio; organizing mailers and promotional pieces; retouching; scanning; prepping files for digital delivery to clients; preparing delivery memos; possibly running errands: delivering files to clients or picking up large format prints from a service bureau

Position Requirements: Must be able to commit to working 5 days per week; a commitment of at least 6 months is required. Must be flexible to work as a photo assistant on shoot days and studio assistant on non-shoot days.

Compensation: 40 hours/week; hourly wage commensurate with level of experience and responsibilities
