Mendocino Gull
This guy was sitting on our roof (at a friend's place), sunset-soft lighting made it look like a studio shot. This is the best i think I can make a seagull look. I have tried plenty of times, but they just ain't that good lookin'!
Both the Deer and Seagull were shot with a new Canon 400MM DO IS. I sold my 300MM because it was not that much bigger than my other lenses. The 400 seems a tiny bit softer than the 300, but it's longer and lighter, and therefore a bit easier to hand-hold. I couldn't quite go for the 500 because I only use the tripod occasionally. The deer was on a tripod, the seagull was not.
