Pennsylvania Mine, Colorado
This is part of an ongoing project of mine. I am shooting old abandoned mine, and mine buildings at night time, and artificially lighting them up. These old mining towns were a bustle with people 120 yrs ago. now there are nothing more than abandoned remnants. Most of the buildings in the area have collapsed long ago. I'm on a mission to find many of the remaining standing ones. In another 25 years almost all of these will have either been razed, collapsed, or closed to the public. This is a piece of history that i want to capture and share with others before they are gone forever.
THe problem is i'm not really sure where to share these. Gallery, book, website. Any insight would be beneficial. thanks

Josh,
Great project idea and the shots are excellent. I would think how you share them could be a bit of a business/marketing decision. Everyone I ever heard speak about self-publishing says there's no money in it. Not sure if that's always the case, but coffee table books for photographers seem to be more of a marketing venture than a profit center (hey, is that haiku?). I think you could use them in a blog type site as a way to tell a story. I have been working on this for my own stuff but it's been put on back burner for now. I am looking at working more closely with Drupal for other projects, so I am considering moving all my sites there. It's a pain but there are features that are nice. One in particular is geo-referencing your images and displaying shoot location on Google Maps. Also think short video bursts to support documentation of the story alongside more fine art quality stills. Bind those up in a video podcast and hang them on the site...Video slide show and hang it on YouTube...Lots of stuff to do and so little time...
